Childhood hunger in coffee villages today

Childhood hunger in coffee villages today

Today, millions of children in Uganda still walk long distances to their nearest schools and spend the whole day without food. A very rural country, most of these young people live in small villages or semi-villages. Uganda has one of the youngest populations in the world, with 35% Of Uganda’s 45 million people are under the age of 15 so this issue is particularly pertinent.

Hunger should never be a concern for children in school; their primary focus should be learning, not worrying about their next meal.

Fighting hunger in village schools is not just a mission for me; it's a necessity that I deeply understand, having walked many kilometres each day to attend school as a young boy in a coffee village myself.

The Blue Turaco Coffee commitment:

For every bag of coffee sold, we provide two school meals in Ugandan village schools.

This ensures children receive a nutritious school lunch which allows them to concentrate on their studies.

Why It Matters:

Providing school meals is not just about filling stomachs; it's about creating opportunities and changing lives.

When children are well-fed, they can focus better, learn more effectively, and stay in school longer. This has a ripple effect: better education leads to more opportunities, healthier communities, and a brighter future for everyone.

For girls, in particular, staying in school can delay early pregnancies and miscarriages, leading to more empowered women and more robust communities.

Our Schools Feeding Program is so crucial that it has been embedded into our product and business profit and loss from the very beginning.

Using coffee to fight hunger in schools is a powerful tool. Powerful coffee = Powerful impact.

By purchasing our coffee you are helping us fight hunger in Ugandan schools!

Thank you for supporting!
